DEVSISTERS ANNOUNCEMENT FROM BACKLASH IN KOREA OVER MERCHANDISING.

When merchandise was announced for the 5th Anniversary, many Korean fans were outraged about lack of merchandise for Dark Enchantress. It caused an uproar, leaving the company to make a promise to fans. Here is what they said via NAVER announcement.

[팬분들께 드리는 말씀]

“쿠키런 스토어는 “전세계 팬분들께 최고의 제품 경험을 제공한다”는 목표 아래, 2025년 중순부터 고퀄리티 굿즈 개발과 상품 다각화를 본격적으로 시작하여, 이제 그 결과물들이 조금씩 나오기 시작하는 시작점에 있습니다. 아직 부족한 부분이 많지만 팬분들의 목소리에 귀 기울이며 계속해서 발전해 나갈 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 다하겠습니다.

상품 다각화를 진행하면서 앞으로도 케이크 들개 피규어, 비스트 피규어, 바이시클 플레잉 카드, 아트북, OST 등과 같은 완성도 높은 제품들을 다양한 캐릭터와 컨셉을 소재로 지속적으로 선보일 예정이며, 주요 이벤트 시점에 사전 준비를 더 철저히 하여 더 좋은 경험과 소통을 만들 수 있도록 노력 하겠습니다. 다만 라이브 서비스 게임 특성상 캐릭터의 이미지나 스토리가 계속해서 새롭게 만들어지고 변화하기 때문에, 굿즈 제작이 각각의 중요 서사와 업데이트들의 시점을 즉각적으로 반영하기에는 물리적인 한계가 있는 점 너그러운 이해를 부탁드립니다.

또한 굿즈를 기획함에 있어 좀 더 다양한 쿠키들의 굿즈를 경험하실 수 있도록 기획 단계부터 검토 범위를 확대하고 다양한 쿠키들의 굿즈를 현실화 시킬 수 있는 방안을 고민하여 개선하도록 하겠습니다.

판매 규모나 제작 여건뿐만 아니라 각 쿠키가 지닌 서사적 의미와 팬분들의 애정도 그리고 굿즈로 구현되었을 때의 매력까지 종합적으로 고려하여 캐릭터 선정과 라인업을 보다 풍부하게 설계해 나가겠습니다.

대량생산 상품 외에도 소형 굿즈, 전시형 아이템, 기획 세트, 사전판매 상품 등 다양한 방식의 제품 구성을 통해 더 많은 쿠키들이 굿즈로 소개될 수 있는 구조를 지속적으로 모색하겠습니다. 이번 일을 계기로 굿즈 기획과 소통 과정 전반에서 팬분들의 기대를 더 세심하게 고려하며 애정 어린 의견에 귀 기울이며 더 나은 경험을 드릴 수 있도록 노력하겠습니다.

[Words to the fans]

“Under the goal of "provincing the best product experience to fans around the world", the cookie run store will begin the development of high-quality goods and product diversification in earnest from mid-2025, and now the results are starting to come out little by little. There are still many shortcomings, but I will listen to the voices of the fans and do my best to continue to develop.

As we proceed with product diversification, we will continue to present high-quality products such as cake wild dog figures, beast figures, cycle playing cards, art books, OSTs, etc. with various characters and concepts, and we will try to make better experience and communication by preparing more thoroughly at the time of major events. However, due to the nature of live service games, the image and story of the characters are constantly renewed and changed, so please understand that there are physical limitations for the production of goods to immediately reflect the point of each important narrative and update.

In addition, we will expand the scope of review from the planning stage and improve ways to make various cookies' goods come true so that you can experience more diverse cookies in planning goods.

We will design the character selection and lineup more abundantly by comprehensively considering not only the sales scale and production conditions, but also the narrative meaning of each cookie, the love of the fans, and the charm when it is embodied into goods.

In addition to mass-produced products, we will continue to explore a structure where more cookies can be introduced as goods through various types of product composition such as small goods, exhibition items, planning sets, and pre-sale products. With this as an opportunity, we will try to give you a better experience by carefully considering the expectations of fans in the overall process of planning goods and communication, listening to affectionate opinions.

After the disappointment in Korea, the company apologized and explained themselves. They promised to consider fans opinions and affections. Yet it doesn’t seem the case. We want to remind the company of their promise, because it is disappointing to see how much Burning Spice and Mystic Flour get treated like nothing! Of course, we do not expect it right away.. but we want to at least HEAR from the company,  acknowledging how we feel.. how they treat these two beautiful Beast Cookies… and say something!

There is always something up with Burning Spice Cookie. He can never get his own special thing. Misprinted merchandise is given to fans. Is Burning Spice a joke? We feel alienated.
